Looks like you’ve stumbled upon my old stash of work from way back when I was still a graphic designer! I’ve been involved in creative works such as designing key visuals for CSR campaigns, advertisements, branding and packaging - all that jazz!
When I first joined BBDO, I had this insight in mind about period euphemisms which created a spark of inspiration in my team.
At some point of their lives, every young girl in Malaysia learns a new phrase to hide the word ‘period’ and ‘pad’ – Big Aunty, Japan Flag, Shark Week, Bread, ‘Datang Bulan’ (The Moon is here).
When parents encourage the use of these nicknames, they’re unintentionally making the word ‘period’ taboo. Stuck in a conservative culture when it comes to menstruation, girls feel embarrassed or shy to use the word to describe something as natural as life itself.
Libresse wanted to tell parents to be more open about the word ‘period’, so girls won’t feel like they have to hide behind euphemisms. To do this, we got the help of the period euphemisms themselves.
Period euphemisms – Big Aunty, Bread and Moon - come to life to get parents to start using the word ‘period’ and ‘pad’, instead of their names. In a takeover of the Libresse Facebook page, the three characters shared films, gifs and posts to send this message out to all Malaysians, even appearing at high traffic areas to stage protests. They even encouraged parents have more open conversations with their daughters about period through writing and sharing educational articles – all in their effort to make the word ‘period’ normal.

I first joined BBDO Malaysia as a fresh grad back in April 2017. I had the opportunity to collaborate with the various teams in BBDO and worked on Guardian as one of my main clients. I participated in the conceptualizing and designing of the monthly Guardian catalogue according to the sale themes.
It was also through Guardian that I got to play around with character licensing and illustration with guidance from Sanrio for the project "Hello Kitty X Guardian" from December 2017 - February 2018.

Open-source Design Branding Identity
I first heard of OSD from attending FOSSASIA2016 in Singapore. I had the pleasure of meeting Jan and Victoria who are some of the many pioneers of the idea of OSD. They gave good lectures and guidance on the OSD scene.
The brief: To design a more cohesive visual identity for opensourcedesign.net. There is a lack of communication and collaboration between designers and developers in the open-source community. There is also a need of more designers' contribution in the open-source community. However, the existing interface is not as friendly for designers. Besides, there is also a lack of strong identity which can be shared amongst both designers and developers.
I've recently been in touch with Jan, the founder of opensourcedesign.net and I'm fortunate to be able to contribute my ideas to their progress of rebranding the site into something more physical and recognizable.
Taiping's heritage stems long before the independence of Malaya yet remained obscured to the local community when contested with other heritage sites such as Penang and Ipoh. The impending loss of heritage in various social context of Taiping, Perak was investigated in order to design an installation which attracted and encouraged the audience to contemplate Taiping’s hidden beauty. Such aspects included family businesses, food, history, architecture and natural landscapes.
Armed with the basis of the research, this project demonstrated design materials in the form of a travel kit to Taiping, intended for travelers who portrayed interest in historical and cultural evidences. Notable and historically significant elements of the location - the rain - is also assembled into an exhibition to lead them towards the aforementioned design materials - a welcoming phenomenon then motivates an appreciation of the heritage of Taiping.

The task was to create a project which echoed our personal manifestos. My self-directed task was then to design blueprints and instructions manual for indoor herb growing product, coupled with a complete brand identity of its own.
In this project, I've also explored various paper to find out which is the most suitable paper for the printed branding materials. Photography was also chosen as the ideal medium for this branding design as I wished to capture the details of plant materials.
